Success for Bluestone at the Sanford Science and Technology Fair.
This year in the Year 7/8 section two groups gained a bronze award for their investigations! Read about their experience below.
On Wednesday 11th September 2019 we participated in the Sanford Science Fair competition. Our board was entered in the year 7-8 team competition.
Our Science Fair investigation was to see which age group at Bluestone picked up the most rubbish. We found that the junior children at Bluestone picked up the most rubbish and we also found that as the ages got higher the stats for picking up the most rubbish got lower.
On the day of the Science Fair the judges asked us questions about our Science Fair experiment. They suggested thing we could improve on next year which were testing high school and public places etc.
Overall the Science Fair was a good learning experience for us and we were happy with our Bronze Award!

On the 11th of September we went to the South Canterbury Science fair at the Caroline Bay Hall. We sat there for about three hours and three judges at random times asked us about our board. They asked us pretty much the same questions which were, why did we choose this topic, what would you change if you were to do it again? and how did you find the average? They asked us a few more simple questions and moved on to someone else. We stayed a bit longer and then taxied back to school.
That night was the prize giving and we were very happy to receive prize money. 🏅🎖🏆
