Eight of our Year 7 and 8 students faced a big challenge in the rain!

After spending the morning in the comparative warmth and luxury of the Aoraki Polytechnic gym learning the basics of rock climbing and abseiling, eight of our brave Year 7 and 8 students headed off to Spur Road to attempt to abseil down a 12 foot cliff with some of the outdoor recreation students and their tutor.

The trek in was wet and muddy but the students took it all in their stride. They all had a turn to harness up and got ready to attempt the abseil.

Four of them  reached the bottom safely while the others had varying degrees of success before making the decision to leave it for another day!
