Tuesday the 18th of August saw 90% of our Think Tank students haul themselves out of their cosy beds to launch themselves into the challenge of the alpine  environments of Tekapo Springs and Roundhill Ski Field....... and what a day we had.

With a marginal  weather forecast but  an eagerness to participate, our students bused their way to either Tekapo Springs or Roundhill ski field for a fantastic day of learning on the ice and snow. Twenty six students skied and 64 skated and tubed for the day. The weather was cold and windy, but we all had lots of fun getting stuck in to our Key Competency work of Managing Ourselves, and Participating and Contributing. It's always fantastic to see how well our students cope with challenging environments and manage their risk taking with a  'can do' attitude.

We had a ball.......Students laughed, fell, slipped, gritted their teeth, ate, rested, listened and encouraged, smiled, held their breath..........and succeeded.

Although the T-Bar lift was out for the skiers due to wind,  they had extra long lessons to smooth out those tricky skills on the Pommer,  and everyone showed significant improvement through the day. With fewer people on the field it provided a chance for Bluestone to show off those moves and have a few of the American Ski Team members scratching their heads in wonder!!!!

For the skaters it was co-operation plus with the challenge of the tubing and skating in close proximity to others, and enjoying the antics of the whirls and turns... and a few spectacular falls,  all laughed away of course.

We are proud to take our students out into the community where they shine as Bluestone ambassadors.
