ANZAC poems and Mondrian inspired art

Juliet Maude —

In Team Explorer we have begun our term learning about ANZAC day. We have read different stories and have been writing our own poetry about what ANZAC means to us. We have also been learning about fractions, and how a whole can be divided into parts. So, as part of exploring fractions, Room 12 looked at a famous artist's work, Piet Mondrian. Using our understanding of halves, quarters and eighths, we ruled our paper into equal and unequal parts. We used some of Mondrians' style, including vertical and horizontal lines. Some students chose to use primary colours only, while others explored using a variety of cool and warm colours for effect. We think our Mondrian inspired art looks great!
