Kinetic and Potential Energy Exploration through Roller Coasters

Rebecca Hamilton —

Did you know that Roller Coasters get their power from Kinetic and Potential Energy? Sure, they have a chain that pulls them to the top but its the release of energy that makes it go!

Room 14 have been exploring Potential and Kinetic Energy through the investigation of how Roller Coasters work. Check out our awesome video attachments of the Roller Coasters that our different STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics)  groups made.

Using straws and ping-pong balls and a lot of teamwork the students created their own Roller Coasters. Perseverance was the key in getting the balls to stay in line and on the track.
