Pink Katydid Hitches a Ride to Bluestone

Sue Harris —

Great excitement in Room 8 when this little critter jumped out of some roses that Caitlyn brought to school. Apparently it is a rare pink katydid.

Katydids are insects in the grass hopper family. They are usually green but can occasionally be other colours. This pink one was camouflaged amongst the pink roses and gave us a big surprise when it appeared.

We spent the rest of the day finding out about it, drawing and labelling it's body parts, then writing about it. At the end of the day Caitlyn took it back home and let it go in the garden where it came from. Below are our sketches and writing that we did.
