Mufti Day - REMINDER - TOMORROW!

Bluestone —

Wednesday 29 September - Wear purple theme and bring a gold coin

On Wednesday 29 September we are holding a mufti day to raise awareness of Dementia and Alzheimers in our community. Any child who doesn't have a purple item of clothing is welcome to wear mufti and can include something purple to their outfit  (eg purple paper wristband).

Many of our children’s beloved grandparents and whanau will be affected with Dementia.

70,000 kiwis are living with Dementia today and by 2050 that will increase to more than 170,00 kiwis.

24% of people in South Canterbury are aged over 65 years compared to 14 % across New Zealand. Alzheimers South Canterbury needs around $165,000 a year to be able continue to support the rising numbers of those affected with Dementia in our region. SCDHB can only provide 7% of funding therefore our organisation relies highly on fundraising events such as this.

September is World Alzheimers Month and Alzheimers South Canterbury will be running a fundraising campaign to raise awareness about this debilitating disease.
