Buddy Reading with Room 1
Each Friday we join with Room 1 and the older students check the younger children's basic facts and spelling words for the week. When we've done that, they read their reading book to us and then we read to our little buddy.
The students look forward to this time each Friday. Here are some of the comments the students have made.

I like it when my buddy reads a book to me.
My buddy helps me do my maths.
I like doing my spelling words with my buddy.
We like it when our buddies say 'hi' to us in the playground.
I like it when we read together.
Students from Room 13 said:
We get to read to them.
It’s good to step up to be the older buddy and be a good influence.
I like testing them every Friday with their spelling and maths.
I like helping them learn new things.
It is good to be a role model.
We get to know other people in the junior school better.
We are helping them learn and read more books.
We get them to sound out the tricky words in their books.
It is good to see our buddies get more confident and better at reading and maths.
We get to know our own buddies really well.
