A basketball dream for Connie Dellow and Piper Henry

Connie and Piper compete for New Zealand in the Koru Tournament in Australia

So I checked my phone after school one day and there was a text from mum saying that I'm going to play basketball in Aussie!  I was so excited.

A few months later who knew I would be on an Air New Zealand plane sitting next to Piper going to Auckland.  When we arrived in Auckland we met our team and they were all so nice.  We got on our Qantas plane to Melbourne and I was sitting next to some Under 18 players.

When we got to Melbourne we had a 3 hour bus ride to Albury-Wadonga.  The training was very hard especially since it was about 40 degrees everyday, but we learnt heaps of plays and skills.

The next Monday we had the opening ceremony and the Koru Tour players did the Wiata and the Haka.  We lost our first game against South Australia but we ended up coming 5th our of 12 teams.

I got in the top ten for 3 point shooters for the Under 14 girls.

We made heaps of friends with the Australian teams and Piper and I made so many friends from the North Island that hopefully we will play with again.  I had such a good experience doing this, it was a dream come true!
