Room 6 Learns a Samoan Dance
Room 6 was delighted when Angelique Mose, one of our mums, offered to teach our students a simple song and dance relating to the Samoan culture.
Our Room 6 students were excited to learn about Packard's family, and about a special Samoan celebration, when his Mum visited our class during a recent afternoon. Angelique shared her experiences of the Teuila Festival which is a week long celebration usually held at the beginning of September. During this time there are games, competitions, dances and canoe races. There is even a tattoo competition where the tattoos tell of ancestries or predictions. Angelique's visit fitted beautifully into our topic studies about each of our own family celebrations.
Thank you Angelique for bringing us some taro to taste and for the dark cocoa drink. Timika says "The cocoa drink was just like dark chocolate and so very yummy."
