Room 6's Rainbow Fish

Ann Schaab - February 11, 2020

We read "The Rainbow Fish" by Marcus Pfister which is an ideal story to begin the school year with as it makes relevant connections to being kind and to sharing.

After we had read the story our students talked about how important it is to be a kind and caring friend to each other as it makes a happy class and school.

Read what some of our Room 6 students said about the story:

Juliet: "It is much better to be kind and not unkind because it makes us all feel happy."

Riki: "Sharing always makes us feel good because no-one should be left out."

Jasper: " When Rainbow Fish shared his scales he made lots of friends and we can too if we share things with others."

Thomas: "Being nice to each other makes us smile and not feel sad."

Isla: "We won't have friends unless we share and are kind to each other."

Bella: His choice not to share at first made Rainbow Fish a very lonely fish."

Room 6 students then used pastels to create some very colourful fish and used glitter to make a couple of their scales sparkle. You are all very welcome to pop into our room before or after school to admire the children's handiwork!
