Little bricks = huge success!
Brickstone was held on Saturday 18 February and it proved to be a massive hit with the young and the not-so-young!
With this event being the first of its kind in South Canterbury we were unsure what to expect. We were blown away with the community support. From the beginning of the event our hall was packed with visitors. The crowds enjoyed the play pits and the food on offer too.
Each visitor was given a small block and these blocks were placed at the exhibit each person enjoyed the most. At the end of the day all the blocks were counted with Paul Jackson and his family's display getting the most votes. Followed closely by Rachel and Jason De Vries and the Geddis family display was third.
Our guest judge, Jason De Vries from Christchurch, judged the children's competition and awarded some great prizes, kindly sponsored by The Warehouse Timaru.
Our raffle prize went to Lucas Caswell.
The event has raised over $3,000 and this money will be used to purchase LEGO robotics, equipment to run the robotics and also more LEGO for our lunchtime LEGO club and our Makerspace Room. Thank you so much to all the community for your amazing support.
There have been many requests for this to be an annual or bi-annual event so watch this space!
