A busy term for Room 19!

Karyn Grace —

This term is shaping up to be a busy one with lots of exciting events happening for Room 19 students.

If you happen to walk past Room 19 this term you are likely to see a hive of industry!  At the moment our main focus is on Science fair work and also finishing our speeches to present to the class.

Science fair work involves setting up of our own experiments,  designing a fair test and then conducting our research.  This will culminate in our pod Science fair which is on Friday the 4th of September.  All of our hard work will be on display in the Think Tank pod and we hope that parents and families will take the time to come and see some of the exciting work that we have done.  We will also select the best entries to send to the South Canterbury Science and Technology fair.

Speeches are also on-going and it is hoped that your child has talked to you about the topic they have chosen and picked your brains for more ideas.  2-3 children from each class will present their speech in the pod speech competition on Monday 7th September.  Our winner will go through to the Lions speech competition.

Added to this busy class work we also have skiing and skating next Tuesday (18th of August), flava festival performances, band quest ,Waimataitai sports exchange and Writers week!

So, as you can see there are a lot of things happening both in and out of the classroom - It's hard to believe that it is Term 3 already.  Roll on Summer!
