Character hunt in the Library
Emma Carson-Iles, Penny Chamberlain and our Bluestone Librarian Amanda Hawker have prepared for our Think Tank and High Flyers team Library Character Hunt. For the last week of term our library sessions turned into a buzzing beehive of student teams hunting for their hidden book characters, some more familiar than others. The Character Hunt was fueled by sweet edible treasures and it exposed students to different literary heroes and heroines. Students had a chance to learn about these characters and get to know the books they came from and borrow these books.
The upcoming term break can be filled with quality reading time (traditional or online) alongside other activities to charge up for Term 3. The Matariki celebration is an ideal time to share a book, and read to each other while catching up with your family, whanau and loved ones.
In her previous role at the Timaru Children’s
Library Mrs. Hawker specialized in setting up library events, such as quizzes
and character hunts. Emma and Penny enjoyed helping to set up this event and we
look forward to more Library centred fun at Bluestone
