Samuel Blades presented the top speech in the Bluestone Competition with Kate Sorenson as runner up.  Samuel will go onto compete in the South Canterbury Lions Speech Competition to be held on Thursday 11 September at Mountainview High School.

The quality of our students speeches was impressive.  Time and effort was put into researching topics and developing persuasive arguments. The topics are set by the Lions Club with a limited number of choices.  Samuel Blades and Isobel McKnight wrote on the topic ' Modern offices should have facilities for an afternoon nap'. 'Human beings are becoming slaves to technology' is the topic Arwen Kleinsmith, Rebekah Frame and Abby Meynell chose to write about. Kate Sorenson and Laura Heron took the stand that ' Hollywood has a negative impact on society'.
