The Worst Meal Ever

Mike Boon —

Last week Room 9 wrote and published some stories about eating. Our focus was the worst meal we had ever eaten.

After some discussion about Mr. Boon's worst meal ever (saveloys, mashed potato, and silverbeet - mostly the silverbeet), Room 9 brainstormed some delectable vocabulary to add into their stories. Once again, everyone managed to publish their stories by the Friday afternoon deadline. Well done Room 9!!

Here are a selection of delicious sentences:

Dexter: One day at my uncle's I had a potato pie for dinner. It tasted like slime.
Evie: It looks like red slime. It feels like I am touching a frog.
Hollie: They (lemons) are very yucky. It makes my face scrunch up and my tongue pokes out.
Maxie: I felt like gagging but I saved the rest for my friends LOL
Izaiah: Hot pies are slimy and gross.
Ryken: I hate tomatoes they are the most grossest thing i have ever had.
Harry: I had to eat the raisins. I ate them and they were wrinkled like an old man.
Isobel: “Eeewww” I said as my dinner plate got handed onto me. “I HATE BROCCOLI”
Azariah: Disgusting. I don't eat tomatoes. I’ve tasted tomatoes before.
Logan: I hate tomatoes! They are yuck because they have seeds in them! Tomatoes are slimy!
Conor: Gherkins are gross like chunky seaweed. Ooohhh, gherkins. I spit them back out.
Amy: Squishy in my mouth, water coming down my chin, yuck taste like silverbeet.
Cooper: The crust is crunchy and tastes like leek. I gag then say don't eat that pie.
Wilson: I looked at my food and the carrots were there dead on my plate like paper on the ground. I think they are gross yuck and disgusting. They are inedible to me.
Ruby N: One night a disgusting inedible chunky vegetarian meat patty got put on my plate.
Mackenzie: A corn fritter, custard, chocolate-ice cream, lemons and brussels-sprouts. It was disgusting and revolting.
Ruby S: Tomatoes are slopped on my plate. Eewww I said. The slimy tomato went in my mouth. I had to eat it.

And the story of the week this week goes to Lucas Mills with his piece on broccoli.

I hate broccoli. I hate it because it is green and it is gross. It looks a green tree. It tastes like a green tree. Why should I eat this? Am I a vegetarian? No! I need to eat meat. Bring me some meat today!
