Room 15's Synonym Rolls

Students R15 - March 10, 2017

Below is some wonderful written work created by the great students in room 15. We hope you enjoy!

In writing we did Synonym rolls. What we did was we came up with four 'overused boring words' and then went on a chrome book to the dictionary and wrote down seven exciting synonyms for them. Example: the boring word is YUM. Pretty boring right? The synonyms: heavenly, pleasant, savourable, scrumptious, rich, delightful, and succulent. When we had four of those, we put them into the shape of a cinnamon roll with the boring word in the middle. Then we wet them with tea to give them a brown feature. After they were dry, we cut them out and made a tray out of paper. Then we covered it with tinfoil, finally we put on glue and glitter and taped them onto the tray and put them on the wall. Our reward was a REAL cinnamon roll! ( YUMMY! ) Eden Hurst.

This is my Synonym Roll that I have been doing in writing. First we had to plan the Synonym Rolls in our world study book. When we had planned the Synonym Rolls in our book we had to draw the Synonym Rolls on a piece of card. Then we grabbed a big piece of card and made a net with the card then we put tinfoil on the net. Next we glued the Synonym rolls face and put glitter on top to make it shine. Finally we put double sided tape on the back and then we put the synonym rolls in the tray and this is what they look like now that they are finished.       Dakota Wylie.

In writing we are doing synonym and cinnamon rolls. First we got our word study books and drew Synonym rolls in our book then we drew them on card and made a tray.  We covered the synonym rolls with tea and dried them off.  Once they were dry we covered the tray with tinfoil and cut the rolls out then we covered them in glue and sprinkled glitter over them and then we were done. Now I get to eat my cinnamon roll YUM!   Lockie Mitchell.

These are my Synonym Rolls they have boring words in the middle with better words around the spiral. We made the net (not for fishing) out of card (same as the synonym rolls) and tin foil. The synonym rolls took( me) one day to finish the tea staining then I waited till the next day for them to be fully dry. I put glue on them then sprinkled glitter on the glue and waited for them to dry. Once the glue was dry I taped them on my net ( not for fishing). Finally I hung them up on the wall. In writing we are doing Synonym Rolls. We had to choose a boring word then write words that mean the same thing then we had to do three more after one.  We had to draw four synonym rolls on a piece of paper, get a wet tea bag, then colour the Synonym Rolls. We made a box and covered it with tinfoil and then sprinkled glitter.
