Today Room 4 students were very excited to see a dog at Bluestone School and learn about being safe around dogs. 

Today we met an Animal Control Officer from the Timaru District Council and Stevie the dog. We were very excited to have a dog at school. We got to pat Stevie the dog and practise what to do if we want to pat a dog we don't know. We also learnt how to be safe around dogs. The photos below show us doing the 3 important things that we need to remember when we meet a new dog:

1. Ask the owner if we can meet their dog

2. Let the dog sniff our hand first

3. Pat the dog on the neck or chest
