High Flyers Speech Competition- hard job for judges!

Rebecca Hamilton —

Well done to the students who competed in the High Flyers inter-class speech competition. Mr Poulter and Mrs Ross had a challenging job to score the students.

12 students from across the pod competed for the chance to represent the school at the Lion's Speech Contest being held on the 7th September. Congratulations to all the students who spoke. Particular congratulations go to the top 4 place getters and especially to Elizabeth Tyler who was placed first.

First: Elizabeth Tytler (Year 6 Room 15)

Second Equal: Danielle Black and Olivia Park (Both Year 6, Room 13)

Third: Zavier Andrews (Year 5 Room 14)

The students had the following topics to choose from:

  • Are Manners dying out?
  • Graffiti is Art.
  • There is no I in Team.
  • What Super Hero would you choose to be and why?
  •  Would Kids today be able to survive if they were transported back to 1840?
  • What is so special about being an Adult?

On Thursday 7th September Elizabeth competed in the District Lion's Speech Competition and represented our school very well. She was not placed on the evening but had an enjoyable experience. Her whanau, a group of students from her class and her teacher supported her on the evening.

Well done Elizabeth!
