Darren Smith - Principal
Kia ora everyone. I am the Principal at Bluestone School and I am so thrilled to be your school leader.
For those of you who do not know much about me I have been a teacher for 44 years, 26 of those as a Principal.
In 2018, my wife Gillian and I decided that as our two children were adults that we would move to South Canterbury to be closer to her family. We have been long time visitors to this wonderful part of New Zealand and it was inevitable that we would move here to be closer to them.
I enjoy watching sports, playing golf, family gatherings and travel. My daughter Nicola is a teacher in Auckland and my son Michael is a CCTV diagnosis operator for a drainage company in Christchurch. My wife Gillian and I live on the outskirts of town and enjoy a rural lifestyle.
Bluestone is a very well resourced school and has a special group of talented educators who provide a high quality education that is inspiring and focuses on creativity and lifelong learning. Bluestone School has an exceptional reputation and is well respected for offering a wide variety of learning opportunities for our students.
Due to our popularity we advise families living within our school zone to enrol early as places fill up relatively quickly each term.
I look forward to meeting you all throughout the year and hope you will pop in and see us when you get a chance.
Best wishes.
Nga mihi nui.
Darren
