Team Explorer's Lego Launch
To launch into the 6 C's this year we invited the House of Bricks to come to Bluestone and work with our team. What a success!
This year we are learning about and understanding the 6 C's - collaboration, creativity, citizenship, character, communication and critical thinking.
To help us learn more about the 6 C's we invited Rachel from the House of Bricks in Christchurch to come to Bluestone. She created an exciting day for us based around using Lego.
The team was divided into 4 groups so that we were getting to know students across the team. Rachel had 4 stations so we got to try each station. The four stations were:
1. The 1 colour challenge - students had to build something using only one colour.
2. Koru Mosiac making and sculptures - students created a koru pattern or a sculpture.
3. Car racing challenge
4. Creative space - a variety of Lego to be creative with (trees, space, technic, bright bricks)
For some activities we worked in pairs so we had to collaborate. We communicated with each other. We had to show good character by sharing with others. We are learning to be good citizens by working with others in our class and across our team. We used creativity to create amazing creations. We had to use critical thinking to problem solve when things didn't go the way we wanted.
Here's what some Team Explorer students thought of our Lego Launch day:
Preston: I liked building a car with Logan in the hall.
Zoe: I enjoyed working with Shantelle who is in a different class to me.
Eden: I was proud of myself because I made a pool.
Logan: Preston and I won the car race. We had to re-make our car to make it better and better and we won!
Tayah: I liked making the Lego treehouse with Kate.
Tyson: Naufal and I worked together to make a car.
Romeo: I liked making the koru because it was calming and I liked to watch it spin.
