There is a real challenge in working 3-Dimensionally with clay slabs combining the practical aspect of working with clay without dampening the artistic ideas.

A project like this requires preparation. Starting with a suitable workspace, organising equipment and quality clay.  Providing some examples of finished products and modelling how to make clay slabs and cut clay.  Then letting students imagination guide their designs and learning as they roll and cut and try joining their house pieces together similar to prefabricated buildings.  The concentration and focus is evident as each student works to produce the perfect clay house.
