Matariki
Team Explorers trip to the Museum
Today Room's 12, 9 and 11 went on a trip to the museum to support our learning around Matariki (Rooms 8 and 10 go on 14th of June). During our time there the wonderful teachers taught us about Matariki. The children got to learn about the traditional methods of catching food, Maori tools, got to experiment with a range of toys and activities and imagine what life was like living in Waitarakao (the Washdyke lagoon). The students enjoyed trying on kākahau (traditional Maori clothing) as well as using poi and rākau. Room 9 enjoyed asking questions and seeking further clarification to gain new knowledge and understandings. We know that Rooms 8 and 10 will have a wonderful trip tomorrow.
