A1 Netball Team Champions of the A Grade Competition for 2016

Julie Langford —

Congratulations to the girls, after a great season, success!

After going through the second half of the season unbeaten, the A1 team qualified in the top spot going through to the semi finals. This was played against a feisty Sacred Heart team, who made us work hard for the win.  Both teams started with nerves, and it was goal for goal until three quarter time when Bluestone pulled ahead by 7.  This was maintained into the final quarter and we had made it into the finals.  Kimberlee Gabites-Williams in the goal shoot bib, and Emily Campbell at Wing Defence, having great games and earned players of the day.

The final was against St Joseph's Timaru.  A fired up Bluestone team started well, gaining defensive stops and converting them.  Their timing through the court and into the shooting circle was proving hard to stop, and we scored with ease being up at half time.  However the St Joseph girls weren't about to lye down, and came back at us in the second half, making the last quarter a nail biting affair.  Bluestone held their nerve to keep themselves in front until the final whistle.  A fantastic result for the girls and a real team effort.
