Across New Zealand many schools are being formed into clusters called Communities of Learning known as Kahui Ako. Each cluster is looking at how they can work together and support each other to lift student achievement.

In Timaru we now have a Timaru South and a Timaru North Kahui Ako.

Bluestone School is clustered with Barton Rural, Beaconsfield, St Andrews, TBHS, TGHS, Timaru Christian, Timaru South, Active Learners Early Childhood Centre, Childsplay Homebased Education Service, Creative Corner Early Learning Centre, Hanan Free Kindergarten, Kowhai Free Kindergarten, Little Wonders Childcare, Ti Kouka Free Kindergarten and Timaru Christian Preschool.

The government is providing some funding so that teachers can be released within and between schools so that good teaching and learning practice can be shared to benefit all children.

Our Kahui Ako is presently organising how it will operate, who will be the leaders, and what the major learning area focus will be. We will keep you informed of developments.
