Room 7's wild robots

Nikki Geddis —

We have been listening to the story The Wild Robot. We put our STEM skills to use by creating our own wild robots.

At the end of Term 2 Room 7 were given the task to reuse the milk boxes that had accumulated in our retreat. As we had been listening to the e-book The Wild Robot we decided to design and make our own wild robots.

First we drew designs of our robots. Then we began building. We were allowed to use the boxes the milk came in and also some other boxes that were in our retreat. We used the Team Explorer STEM trolley to add interesting bits and bobs to our robots. We made sure we were careful using the hot glue guns! We stuck on pipe cleaners, plastic cups, wooden sticks, straws and other interesting things.

Then we painted our robots and came up with a name for our wild robot. Our robots are currently on display in the Team Explorer pod if you would like to come and have a closer look.

Brooke - It was really fun building the robots.

Paige - I loved being creative while making our robots.

Briarna - It was fun painting and adding interesting things to our robots.

Chase - It was really fun working with a partner.

Callum - It was amazing being able to hot glue things on our robots and working with a partner.

Alice - It was hard coming up with a name for our robot.

Laci - I liked building the robot because it was hard but we managed to finish our robot.
