The Breens Music Roadshow 2019

Nikki Clarke —

On Friday the 2nd of August, the Breens Intermediate choir, chorale, jazz band, performance group, and rock band performed at three of our local schools - Roydvale School, Harewood School, and Wairakei School

The performance group started the show with Moonlight (a Russian folk song) and the Can-Can. After that, the Chorale performed City of Stars from La La Land and Hallelujah, followed by the jazz band who played Watermelon Man by Herbie Hancock. Next up, the choir performed Lux Aeterna by Clint Mansell and Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen. After the amazing choir the rock band Dark Matter played to finish off the other groups.

They were super good as they played We’re Not Gonna Take It by Twisted Sister and Holiday by Green Day. Some people thought it was amazing while some had to cover their ears. Hendrix stood on the fold back as he played his solo in We’re Not Gonna Take It and looked cool doing it.

Between Harewood and Wairakei schools, all of the groups ate at McDonalds and had an amazing time. An especially funny part of the day was when Alexander Plank and James English collected chip packets and made a tower of them. Sadly, they had to get rid of all 30 of the chip packets they collected, but it was fun while it lasted. The day was fantastic and everyone involved agrees that we should do it again.

We would like to thank Maggie Alley and Jill Plank for conducting the choir and chorale, Janet Simon for conducting the performance group, and Mrs Clarke and Miss O’Neill for organising the whole event.
