Visual Art @ Breens
Here at Breens, students learn in, through and about Visual Art. Within our specialist programme, students develop visual literacy and aesthetic awareness as they manipulate and transform visual, tactile, and spatial ideas to solve problems.
At Breens visual art is part of a specialist programme with a dedicated art teacher and a new specialist art space. We are incredibly well resourced with a kiln, printing presses, digital tools and extensive resources to be able offer a wide range of mixed media art experiences. Students may explore stories, experiences, abstract concepts, responses to artists’ work, social issues and events both individually and collaboratively.
Students have the opportunity to use specialised equipment such as a kiln, printing press, and 3D printers. Extension opportunities include weekly Art Club, Wearable Art Group and Cultural Festival Art Team.
We facilitate numerous annual competitions such as Google 4 Doodle, Christchurch Music Festival Art Competition, ANZAC Art Competition and Lions Club Peace Art Competition.
Students also are able to exhibit their art in the community in such places as local businesses, Horncastle Arena, Art Galleries and the Christchurch libraries.
