48 Hour Film Festival - Girls Team
48Hours is a New Zealand film-making competition. It involves teams of various sizes competing to write, shoot and edit a short film, which must be between 1 and 5 minutes long, over 48-hours.
The 48 hour film competition was an incredible experience, whether it came down to the launch, planning, filming, editing or handing in it was crazy how much we got to learn in just one weekend. This should be a must do every year as this teaches you so much within a very, very short amount of time.
The amount of teamwork involved in this was absolutely outstanding, no matter what we strived to do our best, between the boys team and the girls team, the girls team kept getting distracted but even then we finished the movie because we remembered what was important to us, we tried our hardest to accomplish our movie and we succeeded. We had people on and off set but even then we stayed quiet because this was very important to us and the team. We had to cooperate extremely well for the movie to work otherwise the scenes would have been messed up and not correctly shot.
At the start of our 48hours we ventured to the launch centre were we found out all the important information. We had to wait a wee while as we arrived quite early and it hasn't begun, there was a timer on the projector counting down the minutes until 48hours began, suddenly 5….4….3….2….1…. They were letting us know our genre and the things we had to include, our genre was Science-Fiction and the things we had to include were a double take, overhead shot, wind and laughter, AND GO!!!!! 48hours began we were off! Once we had finished the movie the time pressure was crazy, because we only had 48 hours and the filming took a long time. Our editing was cut very short which left us with a very short time frame to hand in the hard drive. When we arrived to the launch the doormen opened these massive doors and as were walking through them we hear clapping, we look around and not only were they clapping but they were clapping for us because we made it with 9 minutes to spare!!
Our genre for the movie was Science Fiction which meant it included a lot of green screen, special effects and rehearsing our scripts. But it was very exciting getting to experience this, during the whole filming process we took so many clips and only used about a quarter of them as most of them were muck ups; we either cracked up laughing in or we said the incorrect line. To have the opportunity to do this was fantastic, I loved the ideas and hard work the teachers, parents and other helpers put into it, we appreciate everybody's help it meant so much to us!! :)
