Introducing Kelsey Knipshild - Counsellor in Training

Nikki Clarke —

Kelsey is working as part of the pastoral care team across Heaton and Breens Intermediates this year. She is also taking courses towards her Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Studies at the University of Canterbury.

Kelsey worked at Breens several years ago in our Aoraki team and is on leave at present from her teaching position at Heaton Intermediate School.

This is a new position that was created by both schools this year to focus on students’ wellbeing, especially after the unprecedented challenges that have occurred in Christchurch over the last 10 years.

Kelsey supports and contributes to our school pastoral care system. She is working with individual students and groups, through referrals from the pastoral care teams or principals at both schools.

Parent/whānau consent is required before Kelsey works with a student.
