On Thursday 25th of August our Breens Intermediate School band called The Ice Breakers attended the Canterbury Bandquest held at Shirley Boys High School.

We had a little hiccup with the van on the way but finally got to the venue for soundcheck.

As we walked in we found out that we were up first (probably our name). We sound checked our song Clocks by Coldplay. It was nerve racking being up first but we went for it and made sure everything was sounding good.

We came back at 5.45pm for the performance. The auditorium was packed and there were 15 bands ready to perform.

We were introduced and started with Clocks by Coldplay and then we played Say You Won't Let Go by James Arthur. We were all really nervous but played well together and got a huge round of applause at the end of our performance.

As we were first we got to then relax and watch all of the other bands perform. There were some awesome groups with a huge variety of music being played throughout the night.

Finally it was prize-giving time... and Olive was awarded the Best Singer of the night award. This was amazing as there were so many singers with some bands even having 4!

Overall we were super proud of how far we have come in only 2 terms together and we are looking forward to some other performances that are lined up for the rest of the year.
