Kia ora koutou Parents and Friends of the School

We have had the most brilliant start to term four with plenty of opportunity for everyone and rich learning in and out of the classroom. I was so pleased to be able to join the Breens Challenge event last Friday as we completed the Little River Rail Trail together. This was BC event number four in the space of two weeks! Congratulations to Hugo, Jonty, Daisy and Toby for being placed at the BC Huxster Bike Race earlier in the term.

Congratulations to all our musicians and singers for their outstanding performances at the Christchurch Music Festival this week.  We were so proud of our choir and the eleven students who represented us in the representative music groups this year.  It was a wonderful evening in our beautiful Christchurch Town Hall.

  • Senior Choir: Sofia Collins, Alessandra Jones, Shae Robinet, Isaak Togiaso, Raelyn Tuitamai, Olive Williams-Partington
  • Concert Band Brianna Croft: Flute
  • Symphony Orchestra - Lily Adams: Violin

Thank you to those of you who were able to come along to Athletics on Wednesday and support your children.  It was a stunning Canterbury day and we were fortunate to have a morning of overcast conditions before the heat set in!  The children all participated to their best ability and got involved in the spirit of the day!

The Water Polo team competed well in the recent South Island tournament.   It was a tough competition which ended up being an open grade tournament.  We were super proud of our young athletes who played hard, played fair and were placed mid table after a number of wins and close games.   Thank you to the parents who managed, coached and supported the team in Dunedin. Congratulations to Juliette Hough who was named in the Tournament team.

A 1st placing in the NZ Dance Challenge was also fabulous news earlier in the term.  You can watch the performance in the article in this newsletter publication.   Congratulations to dance teacher Nicole Wilkinson, our super talented students and Jullian Josland for his camera and editing work.

We are looking forward to seeing many of you at the Arts Showcase next Wednesday evening.  It promises to be a really vibrant evening of music, art, dance and drama.

Ngā mihi nui

Warm Regards

Nikki
