Kia ora koutou e te whānau

This week we have been reflecting on a term which has been rewarding and successful.   We have enjoyed getting to know our new year seven students and they have settled in beautifully.   The year eight students are performing well as tuakana and have stepped up to this challenge with confidence.  Congratulations to all the students who have been focusing on their Tōtara Mai tasks and striving for values badges.

Thank you for your support of the Water Polo bake sale yesterday. The children certainly enjoyed the home baked treats and this will help our team get to Dunedin later in the year!

The term one PTA Disco was a really well supported and fun night.  Thank you to the parents and teachers who helped on the night.  A special thank you to Ryan Young (Board of Trustees Presiding Member) for being the DJ and to Dexter (Māpuna Two) for running the lighting.

At the recent PTA AGM we thanked those parents who have stepped this year and wished them well.

The 2023 PTA is Katie Longden (Chairperson), Becky Gane, Belinda Lansley, Cherie Riley, Debbie Gibb, Diane Byrne, Jill Reid, Lisa Drace, Maryanne Bhatnagar, Megan Abercrombie, Michelle Grins and Spencer Cochrane.    This group of community minded parents are always keen to connect with other parents who would like to assist with their events.  You can follow them on facebook @ breensPTA

The teachers have recently opened up the student posting feature on HERO. Your child will now be able to login and see their own learning posts.  We have been working with children so they will be able to independently post out examples of learning to share with you.   You should spot the first of these, a physical education self assessment and also technology assessments for the first rotation.

In term three we will host twelve students from China and will be looking for homestay families to host them.   Look out for further information and a chance to express your interest early next term.

We look forward to an action packed term two with the start of winter sport and the start of Friday E and E which will include the beginning of the school production workshops.

Best wishes for a safe and happy Easter and holiday period.
