As part of their SSR this term, Māpuna have been celebrating their uniqueness through stop motion filmmaking. Students spent the first half of the term watching different short films for inspiration and planning for their own films by assigning roles within their groups, drawing storyboards, and creating their own props from available materials.
The students have been extremely resourceful, making use of coloured paper, Post-It notes, action figures, food, sticks, clay, board games, and toy cars to tell their stories and explore innovative ways of creating film. The engagement has been extremely high, with one student saying it's "the best thing they've done all year," and the quality of the films being made has been really impressive. Ka rawe e whānau!
