Studio One Performing Arts - Your local dance school is currently giving Ballet (R.A.D.) lessons in your area. Accessible Youth Theatre Programme Starts Term 1 - Glass Ceiling Arts Collective’s Accessible Youth Theatre programme starting Term 1 in Christchurch, at Showbiz Studios on St Asaph Street. Our supported program enables young Disabled people equal access to Youth Theatre alongside their non disabled peers and members of their whanau. The programme is co designed by the participants ensuring we deliver what the group wants and needs. It could be a full scale Musical Theatre production like Shrek Jr in a big theatre or a short film for a World renowned Film Festival….the opportunities are endless. Culture Galore - 18th February 2023, 12.00 - 4.00pm at Ray Blank Park, Maidstone Road. Cancelled if raining. Culture Galore is the Council’s annual event that celebrates the ethnic diversity of the city. This year over 30 ethnic groups will be offering cultural performances and demonstration at the free event at Ray Blank Park on Maidstone Rd, showcasing the music, dance, heaps of ethnic food, arts and crafts of cultures from around the world.
Performances range from traditional songs and dances from Iran, Afghanistan, Ukraine, China, Korea, India, Japan, Philippines, Ireland, Poland and more! And you can also sample some of the appetising ethnic cuisines from one of the many food stalls.
As well as amazing performances there is a huge range of have a go activities and fun for the kids, such as: Flax weaving, Calligraphy, Bouncy castles, Pedalmania, Face painting, NZ Fire Brigade with their fire demonstration kitchen, Soft archery, Canterbury Cricket dive mat, Sport Canterbury's Top Team Trailer, FC Twenty 11, Christchurch netball, and more. 2023 – School of Dance A Time to Shine at Anna Lee - New students welcome. New classes for 10 year olds new to jazz this year. Musical Theatre Classes. Passionate teachers who care. Well established dance school with a variety of classes. Fun classes for everyone from beginners through to senior level. Dancing friends become friends for life. Through dance, children develop a range of cognitive skills. They can convey their thoughts and feelings and learn how to use their body language for self-expression. Homestay needed for Cultural Exchange Programme - The Cultural Exchange Programme for Teikyo University High School last year was a great success, and we appreciate your help with finding homestay provisions for our students. This year, during 16th - 29th March, we are hosting another one for Yasuda High School with around 130 students from Japan. However, as the students will be arriving in two batches, we need host families to be divided into two periods: 16th - 27th, and 18th - 29th. It would be much appreciated if you could recommend us any available host families during those two periods. See info attached.

Tall Blacks Game - We are excited to be hosting the Tall Blacks vs Saudi Arabia world cup qualifying game at Christchurch arena on the 24th of February. The Tall Blacks have not played a game in Christchurch since 2018 so this is a great opportunity for you to see the team before they head off to the World Cup later on this year. McDonalds Duathlon - To be held at South Hagley Park on Sunday 2nd April. This event, involving run and cycle stages, is for individual entrants aged 7 to 15 years old. All entries go in a lucky draw for two mountain bikes and helmets. All competitors will on the day receive a competition shirt, which they must wear to compete as well as a medal, certificate and goodie bag.
