First Lego League
On Saturday 4th December we had the First Lego League. This is a competition where we had to code our LEGO Mindstorm robot to complete some challenges, all worth points. We also had to make an innovation project to help with Cargo and the delivery systems.
We had 4 teams entered from Breens Intermediate School.
Breens Beans - Bree, Emily and Lily.
Breens LEGO - Ezra and Liam.
Breens Baboons - Isaac, Rick and Asyraf.
@breens.school.nz - Corin and William.
We arrived at school roughly around 7:40am and we drove to Kaiapoi North School and we went inside the school.
Each team had 2 practice runs on the competition board, 3 competition runs and then a 30 minute presentation to the judges sharing their innovation project.
It was a very busy day and the Breens Beans had our tournament runs later in the day and scored 125 points as our high, Breens LEGO 160, Breens Baboons 165 and @breens.school.nz 175.
Breens Beans won a trophy for Core Values( Innovation, Teamwork, Excellence, Fun, Enthusiasm and Discovery ). The trophies were made out of LEGO.
Mrs Taylor and Kylie won a trophy too, they won one for being good tutors / mentors. Their help was invaluable and we couldn’t have done any of this without the help of them.
The FIRST Lego league was an amazing experience, and I recommend it to any student thinking of trying it out,
