EPro8 Challenge
Breens Intermediate competitors achieved the top 3 places in the Epro 8 Canterbury heats.
In the first 4 weeks of term 3 the Epro8 teams at Breens Intermediate competed online against other schools in the North of Christchurch.
The Epro8 Challenge is a year 5-10 challenge around Engineer, Problem Solving and Innovation.
The brief was:
The mayor of your town has had a fantastic idea for a new tourist attraction: A zoo full of robotic creatures. The zoo will have a collection of all sorts of robotic creatures, from ants to lions, snakes to eagles.
Your team will build a prototype robotic creature. You can choose any creature that you like. Your creation won’t look like the real creature, but instead a robot version of the creature. It will have one moving feature that will capture the essence of that creature.
The robotic creatures will all be 1 to 2m long. This means giant ants and small giraffes. Because it is a tourist attraction, the mayor wants eachrobotic creature will make the visitors go “WOW”. The WOW factor will be the test of the winning entry.
The 4 Breens Intermediate Teams placed so well out of over 20 teams.
