Code Club Term Two (Game Development)
During Code Club this term, we have been making games on either Gamefroot or Minecraft.
The Gamefroot games we were entering in something called the Rubber Duck Awards. The Minecraft games and the Gamefroot games we are entering in the Digi awards. The first week was planning what we would do and starting to make the game, and the rest of the term was developing our game. The Gamefroot games were platform games that had to have something to do with New Zealand. The minecraft games had to have some coding in it with Code Builder. About half the Code Club did Minecraft and the other half did Gamefroot.
There were a few challenges during the term like when some people accidentally deleted their game or that their player was not moving. Luckily, all of the problems got fixed and the games all worked really well.
At the end of the term, we invited all the parents and teachers to play our games. There were about 20 pizzas and it was a session of playing Gamefroot and Minecraft games and eating pizza. Everyone said that my game was incredibly hard (Isaac and Asyraf's game) and that Samuel and Rick's game was also hard.
Before everyone came, we filled out a sheet of paper asking for the game name, the people who made it and what parts of the game were coded. Everyone that played our games had to leave a rating out of 5 and a comment. At the end of the session, everyone had a sheet of paper with reviews from everyone who played their game. It was a very fun night overall.
