Wearable Arts
Wearable Arts is a fun club that we have been doing every Friday since the end of March.
The theme for wearable arts is CRAZY COLLABORATION AND YIN AND YANG. We have been making an Alice in Wonderland themed costume. One side of our costume is the red queen and the other side is the white queen. When we first started our costume we started off by making red paper mache hearts. We put the hearts into three groups of six, ⅓ are red painted hearts with yellow designs on them, another ⅓ red fabric hearts and the last ⅓ are red glitter ones. Then we moved on to making the base of our skirt. After that we’ve made and cut out some butterflies for the white side. Presently we are making red and white tassels to match our theme colour and also to tie our skirt together. We are the every first people at Breens to do one costume but with two people in it. We have to think of ways to make our costume big and bold so when we are on stage the audience can see our costume. The whakatauki in wearable arts is ‘ KO TE AMORANGI KI MUA KO TE HAPAI O KI MURI’... THE LEADER AT THE FRONT, WORKERS BEHIND THE SCENES. We are enjoying wearable arts so much. Mrs Turpin puts on music that we like when we are making our costume. We get help when we need it and Mrs Turpin gives us ideas if we need them. Watch this space for our up and coming crazy yin and yang wearable art costume. Keeley and Marina- Aoraki
