EPRO 8 - Double Success at the first round of competition
The Breens "Epro Eaters" and the "Glue is Easier" teams took out first and second place at the recent EPRO 8 competition.
EPRO 8 an engineering and problem solving competition for students year 5 and up. Teams of 4 develop their problem solving and engineering skills to take on challenges using a kit of Epro 8 equipment.
Competitors receive a booklet with challenges to complete within a set time period. Teams receive points based on the level of difficulty needed to complete the challenge.
We held an in school competition earlier in the term to find two teams to represent Breens at the first round of inter-school competition.
The "Epro Eaters" and "Glue is Easier " travelled to Russley School to compete against at other schools at Year 7/8 and put their thinking and engineering skills to the test. The electronic component was a new challenge to us but after a brief tutorial the teams were off.
Epro Eaters took on the challenge of making a vending machine that could dispense items as well as take coins and dispense items
Glue is easier built a road marking machine that could travel backwards and forwards and had a white board marker that could be raised up and down and mark the road.
After 2 hours and 30mins of building the Glue is Easier came out on top with Epro Eaters running a close second.
Both teams will now progress through to the next round where we take on other winners of the respective first round competitions.
A massive well done to
Epro Eaters - Monty, Rick, Alex, Stephane
Glue is Easier - Liam, Isaac, Joshua, Finlay
We look forward to competing in the semi finals on September 20th at Kirkwood Intermediate!
