Samoan Language Week

Steph Pole —

Talofa!

‘Mitamita i lau gagana maua’a lou fa’asinomaga’ - Be proud of your language and grounded in your identity as a Samoan.

Breens Pasifika Group celebrated Samoan Language Week on Friday June 9th with a number of family members attending to watch a sasa and listen to two of the songs the students are learning. This was followed by lunch of sapa suey, chicken, coleslaw, rolls and pineapple. Guests were presented with Ula lole necklaces that the group had made previously. Ula lole are lolly necklaces gifted as part of a big milestone or celebration.

Throughout the week Breens students were able to watch videos and have a go at learning some Samoan language

The 32 students in the Breens Pasifika Group are working hard preparing for the Kahui Ako Cultural Festival in September.

A big thank you to the guests who attended our celebration.

We hope to see you all again.

Fa’afetai lava
