Success at the Rotary and CAIMS Speech Finals
Breens has continued to achieve success in multiple speech competitions recently.
Our school held our own speech finals late last term and we selected six speakers to represent us at the Rotary Speech Finals:
Kate Baker - Music isn’t what it used to be
Koko Payne - Chickens make great pets
Kaylin Bent - Te reo Māori
Krishanu Das - Everyone should learn a second language
Alex Riley - Sharks!
Sam Martin - Medicine in the past and modern world
These students went to Cotswold School for the semi finals to speak in front of a closed audience of two judges - a slightly nerve wracking experience!!
Krishanu and Alex managed to make it through to the Rotary Speech Finals held here at Breens. Five students from each year group were chosen to deliver their speech. The speakers on the night ranged from Year 4 through to Year 8 and were judged within their respective year groups.
After the judges conferred, it was announced that Krishanu Das had achieved 3rd place and Alex Riley achieved 2nd place - an impressive result!!!
We want to congratulate both Alex and Krishanu for their success and to all the speakers who made it through to our school speech finals .
A huge congratulations also goes out to Alex Riley and Kate Baker who also represented Breens at the CAIMS speech finals held at Cobham Intermediate during Week 1 of the term. These students delivered their speeches to all the other Christchurch Intermediate School finalists and did a fantastic job with their topics being really well received.
