BEST Badges Term Four

Geography

In E&E term 4 we have been learning about geography. For geography we all chose different countries and studied them. We studied all sorts of things from how wealthy the country is to what languages are spoken there. Next we had to compare and contrast the wealth of our country to another country with a lower or higher wealth.

We had to create something that represents our country. People made paintings, drawings, scratch projects and more. Now we need to make some kind of food that represents our country so we can have a shared lunch on the last Wednesday of this term to celebrate.

The students decided to get meals that were their researched country. Eg, Fiji- fruit platter , Japan - rice balls , Mexico - salsa , guacamole , corn chips , and homemade goods !

Best badges were given out too :)

Social Enterprise Newsletter

This term, we have participated in Social Enterprise. This was a fun E & E with lots of challenging tasks for us to do. Each week we were working on forming a product to sell at our Breen's Market Day. We all had to think about what the Breen’s students would want to buy and which products would make the most profit. Another aspect of the BEST Badge was we had to research and understand different businesses and how to make a profit. We also had to calculate how much money each part of our products would cost, and figure out the raw total for each one.

Then we had to buy our own products and collect the receipts to give back to Mrs Marryatt.

We had access to websites with business models and how to start your own business. In the Best badge there were all different sections and we had to answer questions, invite a friend to inform them on all of our learning, and do a business compare and contrast.

The day of the market Mrs Marryatt had made sure everything was organised and it wouldn't be busy for us. We had each team coming at a different time. Doing the best badge was really fun to do and seeing everybody's faces at the market was an awesome experience too!
