Reflection - Pouakai Camp @ Waipara

A exciting, nerve wracking, daring and super fun experience. No matter of what your strengths are there was something there for you.

A exciting, nerve wracking, daring and super fun experience. No matter of what your strengths are there was something there for you. Out of all 8 activities the Flying Kiwi was by far my favourite it was so much fun! The Flying Kiwi is where you are stand and the rest of the team/group will pull on a rope which is attached to you and you get pulled up into the air really fast and it’s like you’re “flying”.

As well as the Flying Kiwi there was 7 more activities such as Team Building, Orienteering, Blind Trail, Kayaking, Waterslide/Flying Fox, Vertical Playpen and Tree Climbing.

But that’s not it we also had entertainment after dinner too! On the first night we had a quiz. As for the second we did a Lip Sync talent show thing which was quite funny and we also played spotlight too!! Of course we had food too!

Breakfast, morning tea, lunch, Afternoon tea, dinner and DESSERT my favourite meal ;)

Overall Camp was a awesome three days and I would definitely do it again!

I really enjoyed every activity because they were so much fun. My favourite one was The Flying Kiwi because you got an amazing view when you were up dangling by a rope. The Flying Kiwi was a bit scary though, the first time because you weren’t used to it yet. The Flying Kiwi was awesome and I think that that activity should be at every camp that we go to.

My other favourite activity was Kayaking because you got wet and that was the best part. Kayaking was fun because you got to play a game called Piano Keys. Piano Keys was a game, it was where you had to stand up on the front of your kayak and everyone was holding onto each other’s for support and you then had to run across the front of each kayak and when you got to the end you then had to run across the back of the kayak until you got to your own kayak then you would sit down in your own kayak then it was the next person’s turn.

My other favourite activity was the Vertical Playpen. The Vertical Playpen was when you were harnessed to a rope and another person was too. And the people who weren’t harnessed to a rope they would be in charged of getting you up and down the Vertical Playpen. Me and my partner Izzy were the first group to go up and Izzy sadly made it to the tire one obstacle away from the ‘chupachup’ Mr Josland calls it. Only I made it to the top and Izzy was watching me in awe.

Overall those were the activities that I loved and I had a bomb at camp because they were the ones that stood out to me. I hope I go to this camp again when I’m at high school.
