Health, Physical Education & Outdoor Education @ Breens
We believe adventure based learning, physical activity and health education is a crucial part of any curriculum for children who are in their middle years.
Specialist Physical Education teaching within each team sits within varied and challenging contexts across two years. These include Dance, Gymnastics, Athletics, Modified Sports and Large and Small Ball skills within specific sport contexts.
Our homeroom Health Education is carefully designed to meet the needs of emerging adolescents. Specialist Health Educators such as Attitude Education work alongside our teachers to deliver an interesting and highly relevant Health programme.
Regular physical fitness and mindfulness is an important part of our school life at Breens, helping to support general wellbeing and hauora.
Outdoor Education experiences include our annual ski trip and bi-annual camps at Waipara.
Breens also offers the Breens Challenge Award for all Year 8 students as part of our extension and enrichment opportunities. The Breens Challenge Award combines outdoor education pursuits, service to others and personal skill development in a year long programme (option to all senior students).
