Breens FM at Plains FM

Nikki Clarke —

A team of budding Breens radio students have been working with Tom at Papanui Youth Development Trust and also in at Plains FM on Friday afternoons this term.

The Breens Radio Club recently spoke on the radio station ‘Plains FM’ about Breens to Christchurch.

On Friday the 15th of June, nine Students went to Plains FM for the afternoon.   We spent time recording the scripts we had been working on in the previous weeks with the team at PYDT.

We met Emily, the person who would be recording our segments.  One by one we went in with our groups into the recording room. We had Breens News (Josh,Izzy,Anneke and Teagan), the Cy-Boys (Luke,Cam and Charlie) and the Men of Mysteries (Topher and I).

Our group was called the Cyboys because we are all about tech - like video games, new phones, music, future tech, websites and much much more. Cam, Charlie, and I had turns doing our scripts. My script was about the top five video games I like. Charlie’s was about Fortnite. Finally Cam, Cam was talking about Beat One.   It was really fun at Plains FM.

I feel that I am getting more confident in publicly speaking out loud from coming to the weekly radio sessions and not being so shy and quiet like I was before coming to Breens.

In the future I feel like more children will want to join the radio club to do fun things and go on fun trips. I hope that one day the Breens Radio Club will be able to go to many different radio stations.
