Merivale Papanui Rugby Football Club Fun Day - Come along to our Fun Day on the 9th March, 2.00 - 4.00pm. There'll be a sausage sizzle, ice creams and top team competition. PPRE – Parish Primary Religious Education - Kia Ora my name is Wendy Martin and I teach a religious education program based on the Roman
Catholic faith. The program is designed to give your child the education they would be receiving within a catholic school using craft, role play and stories to help gain understanding. Our students range in age from 5 to 12 years and come from all over Christchurch. We meet on Tuesday nights during term time from 6:30 – 7:30. Cultural Galore - Culture Galore is the Council’s annual event that celebrates the ethnic diversity of the city. Over 30 ethnic groups will be offering cultural performances and demonstration at the free event at Ray Blank Park on Maidstone Rd, showcasing the music, dance, heaps of ethnic food, arts and crafts of cultures from around the world. Performances range from traditional songs and dances from Mexico, Ukraine, China, Korea, India, Japan, Philippines, Poland and more! As well as amazing performances there is a huge range of have a go activities and fun for the kids. 8th March, 12.00 - 4.00pm. See info attached.

Canvas Bag Drama Classes - After school drama classes for ages 5-18 are back for 2025. We have spaces available across all campuses. This year we continue with our strong support in Merivale (Rangi Ruru Girls School), Halswell (Halswell Community Centre) but also are now proud to offer classes in Bromley Reserve (Bromley Reserve Community Centre). Marist Albion Junior Rugby - Our club is based at Edgar MacIntosh Park on Condell Avenue in Bryndwr so within close proximity of your school. We are offering free subs, mouthguard and a wet weather shell jacket for all players that join our Year 7 mixed tackle team this season. We can also help find secondhand boots or support a family to purchase some if necessary. Students need to be in Year 7, or can be in Year 6 if they are 52 kg or over, or Year 8 if they weigh 45 kg or less. We think this is a great opportunity to become part of a supportive community club, while keeping healthy and making friends and positive connections through sport. Summer Orienteering - The Summer Sprints in Christchurch are ideal for first time orienteers. If you are wanting to try it for the first time and are new to orienteering, please let us know at registration so we can find some helpers to give you some tips before you start.

Watch Special Olympians in action - This Saturday, 22nd February, the International Track Meet is coming to Ngā Puna Wai Sports Hub from 1:00 PM, showcasing some of the best athletes from New Zealand and around the world.
Headlining the event, fresh from his gold-medal-winning performance at the Paris Olympics, Olympic Champion Hamish Kerr will be competing in the high jump, alongside two other Olympians from the Paris Games—Zoe Hobbs (NZ’s fastest woman) and Tom Walsh (Shot Put champion). This is a rare opportunity for students and families to witness world-class athletics right here in Canterbury, and there will be opportunities for kids to get autographs and take photos with their Olympic heroes. McDonalds Duathlon - South Hagley Park on Sunday 6th April.
This event, involving run and cycle stages, is for individual entrants aged 7 to 15 years old. Our emphasis is on participation rather than competition and in line with this, all entries go in a lucky draw for two mountain bikes and helmets.

NZ Kids Free Fishing Tournament - This year’s tournament is measure-only, meaning fish are measured and then released to support sustainable fishing practices and is available free to all children in New Zealand
