Piwakawaka chose to have fruit kebabs for Golden Time last week and Mrs Smith bought a coconut secretly hoping she could talk Mrs Sarkies into telling the children about them and opening it. It was really interesting for the children of Tui and Piwakawaka to learn there are three different colours for a coconut. We were in awe of Mrs Sarkies using the back of the knife and hitting it quite hard in a line around the middle of the coconut. We got to taste the white flesh and it was like eating coconut ice. It was a fantastic experience for the two classes.
