With the increase in electronic device use and social media, it is timely to check in with your children. As a school we are critically aware of the vast amount of information that is available to our children in the digital world. We are also aware of the significance and impact of social media, as our children begin to enter the cyber social space. Netsafe New Zealand has developed a range of great resources, including an Online Safety Parent Tookit, to support parents and whānau when navigating this space (https://www.netsafe.org.nz/). Any time is a good time for parents, caregivers and whānau to check with children, to make sure that they are accessing appropriate information, understand what to do if they come across something that concerns them, or the impact of social media.
