What's been happening in our Middle Team?
Bromley Base:
Our Bromley students are so capable of finding solutions to problems we face in the playground. The Pītau team have been working hard together to work out a set of expectations so there can be more harmony when using the hut in the playground- aka The Bromley Base. Each class generated ideas through loose parts and drawing to contribute to our new set of expectations. We are so happy to report that harmony has now been restored in the Bromley Base!
Pītau 1:
We have been busy learning about the origins of our names and what our names actually mean. This helps us learn more about each other and strengthens our own identities.
We used clay to show how the meaning of our names represent us. We also learnt how to write an acrostic poem using our name and the things we like or do using a new app - Pic Edu.
Pītau 2:
We have created self-portraits out of clay, indian ink or watercolour to build a classroom environment that truly feels like ours. Each portrait represents a piece of who we are, and by sharing them, we’re adding a bit of ourselves to the space around us. This process helped us to connect, celebrate our individuality and create a welcoming atmosphere where everyone’s unique qualities are valued.
Pītau 4
Our students have been creatively exploring descriptive writing, where they are encouraged to craft vivid, magical worlds. By using images and topic starters, they are learning to paint pictures with words, capturing the sensory experiences of taste, smell, sight, sound, and feeling.
Whaea Jo: In classes this term we have been focussing on wāhi ingoa o Aotearoa - NZ place names this has led onto doing our pepeha and mihi in class. In Pītau 1 we have started our visual mihi.
